Bullas celebrates the Wine Feast every September’s last weekend since the year 2001, just before the Patronal Feast and during the vintage time.
Several activities are programmed around the main product of the town: Wine Route’s guided tours, commented tastes or the award of the Master of Wine, that every year goes for a person devoted to the viticulture and oenology. Some other events take place in the central square of Bullas on Sunday morning, such as the inauguration of the Wine Fountain, the traditional grape treading and the First Grape Juice’s Blessing, that can be sampled by the people. Music and traditional dances are also present during these special moments.
Some other initiatives such as the Tapa Fair make more special this festive climate during these days when the unbreakable union between Bullas and its starring product, the wine, is celebrated.
"El Zacatín" of Bullas is a traditional street market where visitors can find a wide range of typical products from the region. The 'Zacatín' is one of the most important tourist resources of the town and also a pioneer experience concerning the street markets that are held in the Region of Murcia. In addition, it is the only one that keeps its activity throughout all the year.
It is hold every month's first Sunday from 9'00 to 14'00 hours, at the Plaza Vieja and the Castle area, right in the historical centre of the town. There you can enjoy the exhibition and sale of products and crafts from the region, as well as a great variety of traditional activities, product elaboration and sampling, street animations, guided visits to old wine cellars and other resources, commented wine tastes of Bullas wines, etc. Apart of all this, every month there are different demonstrations of an old craft or trade is carried out, recovering therefore the manual process of elaboration of the local products.
A yearly schedule is set with the programming of activities complementary to the sale and exhibition of different products. October is devoted to the culture of the vine and the elaboration of the wine as they play an essential role in the local culture. It is the time of the grape harvest and we will be showed the process of elaboration of the wine apart of tasting of our D.O. ‘Bullas’ quality wines.
